Baccarat Rules
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards which are valued under 10 are worth their printed value and on the other hand ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they just act as the two hands to be given out).
Two hands of 2 cards are then dealt to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The value for each hand is the grand total of the two cards, but the initial digit is removed. For eg, a hand of 7 and five results in a score of 2 (sevenplus5=12; drop the ‘1′).
A 3rd card can be given out depending on the following practices:
- If the player or banker has a total of 8 or nine, the two bettors stand.
- If the bettor has 5 or less, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.
- If player stands, the banker hits of five or less. If the bettor hits, a chart might be used to see if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The higher of the two scores will be the winner. Successful stakes on the banker pay at nineteen to twenty (even money minus a five percent commission. Commission is kept track of and paid out when you leave the table so ensure that you have money still before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to one. Winner bets for tie generally pays 8 to 1 but occasionally nine to one. (This is a terrible wager as ties happen less than one every 10 hands. Stay away from wagering on a tie. Regardless odds are positively better – 9 to one vs. 8 to 1)
When done correctly, baccarat provides fairly decent odds, away from the tie bet of course.
Baccarat Strategy
As with most games, Baccarat has some common misconceptions. One of which is quite similar to a misconception of roulette. The past is not an indicator of future outcomes. Keeping track of prior outcomes on a chart is a waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.
The most popular and probably most successful strategy is the 1-3-2-6 technique. This scheme is employed to increase payouts and cutting back risk.
commence by wagering one unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, subtract four so you have 2 on the third wager. If you win the third gamble, add 2 to the four on the table for a sum total of 6 on the fourth bet.
If you don’t win on the 1st bet, you suck up a loss of one. A win on the 1st bet followed up by loss on the second creates a loss of 2. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you breakeven. Coming out on top on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. In other words that you can lose the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
