Punto Banco Regulations and Scheme
Baccarat Rules
Punto banco is played with 8 decks in a shoe. Cards valued less than 10 are worth their printed value while 10, J, Q, K are zero, and A is 1. Wagers are made on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these aren’t really people; they simply represent the two hands to be dealt).
Two cards are dealt to both the ‘banker’ and ‘gambler’. The value for every hand is the total of the two cards, although the beginning digit is discarded. e.g., a hand of 5 and 6 has a value of 1 (five plus 6 = 11; ditch the initial ‘one’).
A third card may be given out using the following rules:
- If the gambler or banker achieves a total of eight or nine, both players hold.
- If the player has five or lower, she takes a card. Players stands otherwise.
- If the player stays, the bank takes a card on a total lower than five. If the player takes a card, a table is used to determine if the house stands or hits.
Baccarat Banque Odds
The greater of the 2 totals wins. Winning bets on the bank pay out 19 to 20 (equal cash minus a five percent commission. Commission are tracked and paid off when you quit the table so ensure you still have funds around before you head out). Winning wagers on the gambler pays 1:1. Winning wagers for a tie typically pay 8:1 but sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a bad wager as a tie occurs less than 1 in every 10 rounds. Avoid gambling on a tie. Although odds are substantially greater for 9:1 versus eight to one)
Gambled on correctly baccarat provides relatively decent odds, apart from the tie bet of course.
Punto Banco Strategy
As with all games punto banco has quite a few familiar myths. One of which is similar to a myth in roulette. The past is not a fore-teller of future actions. Keeping score of past results at a table is a waste of paper and a snub to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.
The most accepted and almost certainly the most accomplished course of action is the 1-3-2-6 technique. This technique is used to maximize winnings and minimizing risk.
Begin by placing 1 chip. If you succeed, add another to the 2 on the table for a sum total of 3 dollars on the second bet. Should you win you will now have 6 on the table, remove 4 so you are left with 2 on the third wager. If you come away with a win on the third bet, add two to the 4 on the table for a grand total of 6 on the 4th bet.
Should you lose on the 1st wager, you take a loss of 1. A win on the 1st wager followed by a loss on the second causes a loss of 2. Success on the initial 2 with a defeat on the third provides you with a take of 2. And wins on the first three with a defeat on the 4th means you are even. Winning all four rounds gives you with twelve, a take of ten. This means you are able to lose the second wager 5 times for every successful run of four wagers and in the end, experience no loss.
